On Tuesdays from 8:00 to 9:00 AM, a one-hour clinic will be offered for all men and women, any skill level.  We spend the hour working on footwork skills, specific paddle skills (dinking, lobing, 3rd shot drop, overhead shots, etc.) and stretching for pickleball players.  The Clinic will be on Courts 1 and 2.  There is no need o sign-up; just show up at 8:00 AM.

Self-Rated Skill Level Round Robin

Come play against players that are at your same skill level in a Round-Robin (RR) format. Skill Level is determined by a Self-Rating Tool completed by the player.  This RR takes place each Thursday from 1:00 to 3:00 PM on Courts 5-8.  Currently, we run 2.0-2.5 RR and 3.0 RR for women but would like to expand to include men in their own Skill Level RR. If you have not yet completed a Self-Rating Tool come to this RR a few minutes early to determine your skill level. It is really fun to battle for every point.

Pickleball Lessons with Joey Farias

Joey Farias will be here on Sunday March 12 giving a clinic and offering group lessons.  Joey is the pickleball pro at the Tucson Country Club.  He is a 5.0 Pro player.  QCPC Board is exploring the possibility of an ongoing arrangement with him to provide lessons and clinics at our courts on a scheduled basis.  This would provide members access to a high-level instructor with repeated follow up.  This arrangement would supplement lessons provided by QCPC, not replace them.

Please use this link to sign up for the clinic or group lessons:

Pickleball Clinic for 2.0/2.5 - This clinic is for participants who have a year or more experience, know the rules, can consistently serve and return serves, can sustain multiple shots in a dinking situation and are comfortable hitting both forehand and backhand ground strokes.  This 2-hour clinic will review primary shots and doubles strategy.  Participants will get instruction and play.  Cost is $5/person.  Maximum 24 participants.

Group Lessons – These lessons are for any level player.  Ideal size is 3 people with Joey being the fourth player. Other numbers of people can be accommodated.  Price per person for a 3-person group is $30 for one hour and price per person for 4 people is $20 for one hour.

Private lessons (one person) - Joey is also available for private lessons.  Private lessons are best for those wanting help on one or two shots.  Price is $60 for an hour lesson.

Schedule Sunday March 12:

9 – 1 PM: Private lessons
1 – 3 PM: Clinic
3 - 5 PM:  Private lessons

Pay Joey in cash or with a check prior to the Clinic or Lesson
.

 Referee Clinic

Many pickleball players, especially those who have never played in a tournament, are under the wrong impression regarding the responsibilities of the referee.  The primary responsibility of the referee is to keep score, watch for foot faults, and make sure the players are in the correct position.

Anyone interested in learning about pickleball rules as related to refereeing is welcome to sign up for a free referee clinic at the Quail Creek courts on March 17 at 2:00.

 Assisted Play March 6

Assisted play will be offered on March 6 from 2 - 4 PM for beginners who are Club Members and who have taken a beginning lesson. This isn't a lesson, but more experienced players will help beginners with various aspects of the game and give them pointers for more successful play.  The first hour will be assisted and the second hour will allow beginners to play pickleball. Please sign up, so we know how many to expect and how many experienced players will be needed. Courts 1-4 will be used for Assisted Play.  After March 6, Assisted Play will be suspended until more people have taken a beginner lesson later in March.

Click here to sign up for Assisted Play on March 6.

QCPC Gets New Ice Maker

The Quail Creek POA has purchased a new ice maker for the pickleball courts.  The top part of our old ice machine has been replaced with a new unit that produces more ice, more reliably than the old unit.  This new unit was attached to our old dispenser at the bottom of the machine.  Thanks to the POA, QCPC did not have to pay for this upgrade.
