QCPC Newsletter June 10, 2017

Don't Put Balls on Top of Sleeves

Please don't place balls on the top of the sleeves.  The wind knocks them off so there are sometimes balls blowing around the courts.  This is dangerous because stepping on a ball is likely to cause someone to fall.  If a ball won't fit in one sleeve, try to find another where it will fit.  If it won't fit anywhere, please put it in the Lost and Found chest in the ramada. Court Management will start putting fewer balls in the sleeves to reduce this problem.  Thanks for your cooperation in keeping our courts safe.

 Pickleballs Losing Their Bounciness

The life of our pickleballs is limited in that they get softer and do not bounce correctly.  If you find such a ball, please put it in the Lost and Found chest in a box labelled "Balls to Be Retired?".  Court Management will check these balls and discard them if they are no longer bouncing properly.

Treasurer Needed Immediately

Karen Morse, our Treasurer, is also serving as our Player Development Chairperson.  She would like to resign as Treasurer, so she can devote her time to player development.  We need to appoint a new Treasurer.  This is not a big job.  It takes about 3-4 hours a month.  The Treasurer is a voting member of the QCPC Board.  The job entails attending Board meetings (monthly with no meetings in some summer months), writing checks, making deposits, and preparing treasurer reports.  Please contact Linda von Felden (lvonfelden4@gmail.com, Phone: 300-6306) if you are interested in this position.

Summer Hours for Club Activities

Club Open Play will now be from 7:00 - 11:00 AM Monday through Saturday.  Evening Club Open Play is 7:00 - 9:00 PM on Monday and Thursday.  Wednesday Round Robins will begin at 7:00 AM, with check-in starting at 6:30 AM.  Please check in by 6:50 AM.  Drills will be from 7:00 - 8:00 AM on Tuesday and Thursday.  No check-in is needed. You must be a member of QCPC in order to participate in these activities.

Inter-Community Play at Green Valley East Center

Inter-Community Play is every other week on Tuesday night with the 4.0+ group, Wednesday night with 2.5’s, Friday night with 3.0’s, and Sunday night with 3.5 level players.  The start time each evening is 6 pm.  So far the feedback is very positive and the set-up is great for players and spectators.  For more information, go to http://www.gvrpickleball.org and click on the SignUpGenius button.

Pickleball Professional Pickleball Instructors Coming to Quail Creek in November and December 2017

We are incredibly fortunate to have both Mark Renneson and Dave Weinbach come back to Quail Creek at the beginning of next year’s pickleball season offering clinics and private lessons.  Mark will be here November 13 and 14 and Dave on December 13 and 14.  These dates may shift by a day based on final travel arrangements.  Both are excellent pro players and excellent instructors.  We decided to again have them both visit as they each provide great instruction and emphasize good techniques and habits.

To find out more about Mark Renneson click on  http://www.thirdshotsports.com or search for one of his many Youtube videos.

To find out more about Dave Weinbach watch the Gold Medal match at the Grand Canyon State Games http://www.pickleballchannel.com/GCSG-2017-mens-doubles-19-gold or replays for his win at the US Minto Open that was aired on CBS Sports in May.
