Assisted Play for Beginners

Assisted play gives beginners a chance to play with other beginners while more experienced players watch and give pointers on how to improve their game. This is not a lesson, but it will give you playing experience. If you have taken a lesson and/or have some playing experience, this is a great way to improve your playing skills. The first hour will be assisted and the second hour will allow the beginners to play. Throughout February, this will be every Monday and Thursday from 1 PM to 3 PM on Courts 5-7. You must sign up to attend. Sign up here.

Members Meeting on February 16

The semi-annual Members Meeting of the QCPC will be on February 16 at 1 PM in the Ocotillo Room of the Kino Center.  All members are encouraged to attend.  The Board will present the budget for 2018 and will also discuss our capital equipment request.  Activities of the Club for 2017 and plans for 2018 will be described.   Members may bring up other items of interest.

QCPC New Level 1 Certified Instructors

Four QPCP members are now IPTPA Level 1 Certified Instructors.  The certification required participation in an 8-hour workshop, 4-hours of classroom time and 4-hours on the courts demonstrating teaching standards for the sport of Pickleball.  Instructors pursued this on their own to understand the latest concepts of teaching Pickleball.  Our newly certified instructors are Karen Morse, Lenny Friedman, Sharon Kolarik and Jean Bustard.

Please put balls that are old and need to be retired into the baskets that are placed on the fences at the courts. Our Court maintenance folks will take care of them.

Robson Intercommunity Mixed Doubles

The QCPC will start an inter-community round robin with Saddlebrooke Ranch. This will be a year-round event with play alternating at each site. On one Sunday a month we will have Mixed Doubles for all levels (2.5-3.0-3.5-4.0/4.5 [combined]), and a couple of weeks later on a Sunday we will have Men's Doubles and Women's Doubles for all levels.

The first time will be March 18th from 1 - 5pm at Saddlebrooke Ranch.  There is still room to sign up here. List your partner's name and the level you will play in the Comment field for Mixed Doubles (based on IPTPA or USAPA of the highest ranked player).  There is a limit of 4 teams for each level,
first come-first served.

Format: 2.5/3.0/3.5 round robin with games to 15. The teams would only play the other community. Then the team with the most wins from QC and from the other Robson community would have a one game playoff for the championship of that skill level. (points would be used for the tie-breaker)

Format for combined 4.0/4.5. 2 out of 3 games to 11 round robin
Grand champion community is the community with the most points after all games (including playoffs) have been played.
