Thank You SASG Volunteers!

A big thank you to all the QCPC members who volunteered as referees, line judges, and parking shuttle drivers during the Southern Arizona Senior Games this week.  A large tournament like SASG could not be run without countless volunteers from our Club as well as from Green Valley.  Thanks to these volunteers, it was a great event for everyone involved.  See you at SASG next year!

Quail Creek Classic Pickleball Tournament
for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital

The 3rd annual Quail Creek Classic will take place on March 23 and 24 in Quail Creek.  There will be a professional exhibition on March 20 at 5:00. A $5 donation and a chance to play with the pros is appreciated.  The “St. Jude Tournament” as it is affectionately called, still has a few openings. The tournament has a round-robin format just like the QCPC socials.   To register, click here.  Many raffle prizes and silent auction items such as:

  • 12 paddles
  • Gift baskets
  • Golf for 4 in Quail Creek
  • Pickleball lessons
  • 3-night stay in San Carlos
  • 7-night stay near Indian Wells during the USAPA National Championships
  • Many more

  • IPTPA Ratings
    Friday, March 29th

Next rating sessions will be held Friday, March 29.  A session requires 4 people going for the same skill level rating (i.e., 2.5, 3.0, 3.5 or 4.0). There are still spots available for 3.0 and 4.0 ratings.  There is some interest in a 3.5 rating, but we need 3 others.  Please monitor the signup for changes and contact me directly at jeanb@dcmesa.com if you are interested in 3.5 rating.  Signup here HERE.

Please note skill level rating you want in the comment box, then others wanting the same rating can sign up with you.  Sean Rickard will conduct the ratings, he is a Certified Rating Specialist (CRS).  Go to IPTPA website (IPTPA.com) to see requirements for each level.

If this is your first rating as QCPC member, you will need to join IPTPA for $15 as a 3-year individual member.  The club will pay the CRS for your first rating.

If you have already been rated through QCPC, you do not need to rejoin IPTPA as your membership is valid for 3-years.  You will need to pay the $25 CRS fee directly to the CRS.

Practice sessions will be held for those who signup for a rating.

As the QCPC club grows the Audit Team suggested we use Quickbooks for our finances and have a separate computer for its use.  That way the laptop/software will be used by whomever the Treasurer is during that term.  The Board voted to approve that suggestion and we have purchased the software.

The Board is looking to see if any member has a laptop computer they would like to donate before we purchase one.  The requirements for the laptop are 2.4 GHz processor, 8 GB RAM, 4x DVD-ROM drive, a minimum 2.5GB hard drive and have Windows 10.

If you have a laptop you would like to donate, please email Steve Shapiro sshapiro57@gmail.com.
