THIEVES AMONG US?

We hope not…but:
there have been mysterious disappearances of the QCPC’s equipment and Club member’s property at the pickleball courts.  In recent weeks, two Club members had their paddles disappear and one member’s new court shoes (still in the box) were “lifted.”  Last week, eight of the Club’s composite paddles (used for beginner classes) “walked away” from the shed.  Also, one of the Club’s recently upgraded loaner paddles (from the bin at the ramada) suddenly morphed into an old YMCA wooden paddle.  In the more distant past, several smaller items owned by the Club have “flown the coop.”  We don’t know why anyone would do this, but formerly isolated instances have grown into a trend.  This is beyond disappointing.  If you happen to know where any of the missing property is, we’d love for it to reappear in the bin at the ramada—no questions asked.

With this in mind, we urge you to keep a watchful eye on your pickleball equipment.  Leave valuables at home or lock them in your car.  If you see suspicious activity or people milling around or someone entering the Club equipment shed who does not belong there, please say something!  Thanks for your cooperation.

TOURNAMENT PREPARATION

Following the March 25 PB Club Meeting on March 25, Bill Vollink will be giving a presentation titled "Interested in Pickleball Tournaments? What You Need to Know and How to Prepare". As our pickleball club continues to grow, more and more people are looking to participate in tournaments but don't know how to get started, how to prepare, or what to expect in tournament play. This presentation will cover these topics. Our club would like to see increased member participation in tournaments. Certainly, the number of medals won during the recent Southern Arizona Senior Games indicates our club can compete successfully!!!

IPTPA Ratings
Friday, March 29th

Next rating sessions will be held Friday, March 29.  A session requires 4 people going for the same skill level rating (i.e., 2.5, 3.0, 3.5 or 4.0). There are still spots available for 3.0 and 4.0 ratings.  There is some interest in a 3.5 rating, but we need 3 others.  Please monitor the signup for changes and contact me directly at jeanb@dcmesa.com if you are interested in 3.5 rating.  Signup here HERE.

Please note skill level rating you want in the comment box, then others wanting the same rating can sign up with you.  Sean Rickard will conduct the ratings, he is a Certified Rating Specialist (CRS).  Go to IPTPA website (IPTPA.com) to see requirements for each level.

If this is your first rating as QCPC member, you will need to join IPTPA for $15 as a 3-year individual member.  The club will pay the CRS for your first rating.

If you have already been rated through QCPC, you do not need to rejoin IPTPA as your membership is valid for 3-years.  You will need to pay the $25 CRS fee directly to the CRS.

Practice sessions will be held for those who signup for a rating.

Player Development Season Coming to an End

Last year we launched a Player Development program with a goal of providing classes to all levels up to 3.5 weekly for 6 months of the 2018/2019 snowbird season.  We started in October and have successfully provided over 120 classes in the past 5 months and all because of the dedicated work of our organizers and assistant coaches.  Our player development season will come to a close at the end of March, but be aware that some classes could still pop up in the newsletter.

THANK YOU volunteer coaches, we all appreciate what you have brought to our club.
