QCPC Members Only Can Participate in Club Activities

You must be a Club member to participate in Club Open Play (Monday through Saturday mornings; Monday and Thursday evenings), drills, skill-level play, and Wednesday Round Robins.  We will be posting a list of the membership during open play periods and Round Robins, so players can check to ensure that they are members.  If someone new appears for play, please ask him/her in a polite way if he/she is a Club Member.  If not, application forms are available in the chest in the ramada or on our website.  Visitors can join the Club as Associate Members for $10 for 30 days.  Those applications are also available in the chest.  The Club pays for the balls that everyone uses and also provides management of our courts.  It is important that everyone participating in Club activities pay dues as Club members.

Skill Level Play

Courts 5-8 are designated for specific skill levels 2.0, 2.5, 3.0 and 3.5 from 10 AM to 12 noon on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Men and women QCPC members of the same skill level are encouraged to attend these sessions. You can come any time during the hours posted, if you think you are this skill level.  The schedule is as follows:
Monday, 10-12, 3.0 Club Skill Level Play
Tuesday, 10-12, 2.5 Club Skill Level Play
Thursday, 10-12 2.0 Club Skill Level Play
Friday, 10-12 3.5 Club Skill Level Play

Club Open Players who are not at the appropriate skill levels should move to Courts 9-12 after 10 AM on these days.

Challenge Courts

Courts 8 and 9 have been designated as Challenge Courts on Friday from 8 - 10 AM. Challenge Courts are a good way to get to play against better players. Rules are that the winning team stays on for 2 games. If you want to challenge the winner, a double’s pair places their paddles either on the fence or on the ground in front of the court. This is the signal that you are challenging in. If your team was the winning team and on the court for 2 games, you need only sit out 1 game to challenge back in.

Assisted Play

QCPC Members who have taken a beginner lesson and consider themselves to be 2.0-2.5 players are encouraged to come to Assisted Play on Wednesday, November 15,  from 1-3 PM on Courts 9 and 10.  Participants will play games while more experienced players watch and give pointers on how to improve.  The first hour will be assisted play and the second hour will allow players to continue to play games.  Sign up here for Assisted Play for November 15.  A total of 10 players can participate.

Mixed Intermediate Drills

Separate drill clinics will be available for 3.0 players and for 3.5 players.  Eight players may participate in each clinic. The clinic for 3.0 men and women will be on Friday, November 17 from 2:00 to 3:00 PM, and the clinic for 3.5 men and women will be on Friday, November 17, from 3:15 to 4:30.  Sign up here for the 3.0 or  3.5 clinic. Clinics will be held on Courts 11 and 12.

Round Robins to Continue on Wednesdays

Round Robins will continue on Wednesdays, beginning at 8 AM with check-in from 7:30-7:50.  Separate men's and women's round robins will be run.  The Round Robins on November 15 and 22 will not have a social (no free food or drinks).  Note that you must be a member of the Quail Creek Pickleball Club to participate in Round Robins.

Notes from Court Management

Balls that do not fit in the ball sleeves should be placed in the chest in the ramada. Please don't put extra balls at the top of the sleeve because they blow off and could cause a fall if someone steps on one. Balls that are squishy and not bouncing well should be put in the shoebox in the chest. These will be tested by our court management team and thrown away if appropriate. Please don't throw any balls away yourself.

There is a measuring stick on the side of each net. As you begin play each day, you may want to measure the net at the center to see if it is too high or too low. If the net's height is not correct, you can very carefully adjust it by turning the crank up or down.

 QCPC Member Meeting

The next Member Meeting of the Quail Creek Pickleball Club is on Thursday, November 16, at 1 PM in combined Ocotillo and Mesquite Rooms in the Kino Center.  We will elect officers for 2018-2019, discuss initiatives started by the Club, and address any concerns that you have.  Plan to be there and help move our Club forward.

2018 Dues are Due

QCPC dues are $20/year per person. Dues for 2018 are being collected now and are due by January 1, 2018. Write your check to QCPC, and make sure that you indicate whose dues are being paid in the Memo line of your check. Bringing your check to the Member Meeting would be a convenient way to pay.
