Firefighters' Tournament is February 10-11
The Annual Firefighter's Tournament will be held on the Quail Creek Courts on February 10-11. (The last newsletter indicated that it was in March.) Registration for this tournament opened on December 1. Skill groups are from 2.5 to 4.5+ and events include Men's and Women's Doubles and Mixed Doubles. Click here for more information and registration information. This tournament supports local firefighters and their families. It is a fun event and contributes to a worthy cause. Please consider playing in this tournament to support our local firefighters.
Assisted Play for Beginners
Assisted play for beginners will continue on Mondays and Thursdays from 1 - 3 PM on Courts 5-7. This is not a lesson or drill, but an opportunity to play with other beginners while more experienced players watch you and give pointers on how to improve your game. You need not have a lot of playing experience to take part in this activity, but you should have taken a lesson or have some playing experience. Sign up here for Assisted Play. Joey Farias/Sean Rickard Pickleball Academy
Sean Rickard has invited all 3.0+ to take part in The Joey Farias and Sean Rickard Pickleball Academy! They will be hosting a monthly clinic in Quail Creek open to QCPQ members. These
clinics will consist of the following:
Two hours of instruction, drills, gameplay scenarios and
concepts
A new area of focus every month (Beat the Bangers, Dink Like
a 5.0, Footwork Footwork Footwork!, Creating/Countering Spin, etc.)
16 player maximum for an 8:1 player to instructor ratio
Top notch instruction from two 5.0 rated IPTPA certified
instructors
The first session is on January 26th from 9 AM to 11 AM. Cost is $40 per monthly session. They invite you to participate in individual monthly clinics, or sign up for the
entire 4-month academy! For anyone who attends all 4 clinics, Joey and Sean will be hosting a 5th event for free!

Drills for 2.5 to 3.0 players will continue to be offered on Thursdays from 10 AM to noon. These drills will be have 3 coaches and 20 participants. These drills are for 2.5 players who aspire to become 3.0 players and for players who are lower 3.0 players (not yet aspiring to be 3.5 players). Sign-up here to participate in these drills. Scott Moore, who played in the Battle of the Sexes is coming to Quail Creek on January 24 to offer clinics for 3.0 and above players. Step up your game with intensive, semi-private training in strategy, technique, skill development, positioning, effective practice, and mental toughness with IPTPA certified instructor, Scott Moore. Together with a small group of other players, you will improve your mental game, shot making, shot selection, and learn new strategies, drills, and “The Moore’s 10 Principles of Pickleball” in order to become a more effective, better player, right away! Your 2018 dues were due on January 1, 2018. If you haven't yet paid dues, you may still pay by dropping off a check at the home of our Membership Chair, Susan Jones, 2620 Arica Way. There is a box by her front door for dues. Dues are $20.00 a year. Make your check payable to QCPC. After January 31, we will eliminate non-paid individuals from our Membership list. You will no longer receive newsletters and you will no longer be able to participate in Club activities.
