Brian Martin Classes Cancelled April 12 and 13

Disappointingly the weather forecast for Saturday is for temperatures between 95 to 100 degrees and winds close to 20 mph with stronger gusts. These are poor conditions for pickleball lessons, and we don’t want anyone to experience a heat related issue. With this in mind, we decided it best to cancel Brian’s planned visit this weekend.

Brian wants everyone to know how much he enjoyed coming to Quail Creek and the people he met. He is looking forward to returning next fall.

2025 Winter League

The 2025 Winter League has come to an end! We had a great season! The players and matches were very competitive.

In addition to match play, we offered mentoring to assist these up-and-coming players in developing their skills.

We want to thank each and every player for their contribution this season! The comradery during the season was awesome! We had Team Captains who did a great job of setting the weekly lineups.

Congratulations to Team Dinks 'n Drives who finished on top for the season! Team members: Kim Grass (Captain), Sue Kane, Felix Marcial, Sherry Mayer, Tom Quinn, Maggie Quinn and Alan Roline.

A special thank you to all of the committee members - we could not have had a league without your time and energy!

2025 Summer League

Committee Members Needed

If you are interested in participating in a Summer League, we will need a committee to make that happen.

If interested please contact Madelyn Witt

Quail Creek-Saddlebrooke Ranch Competition

The Quail-Creek Saddlebrooke Ranch Competition on 4/5/25 was a huge success.  Our players and volunteers truly raised the bar for competition events held here.  And we certainly showed Saddlebrooke Ranch how to put on a party.

Our Social Committee volunteers once again outdid themselves.  On top of that, we got to show off our unequalled courts, sound systems, and TV monitor.  Our club purchased the "technology" for events just like this.  Saddlebrooke Ranch will have a tough time matching our event when they host us next year.

Though we didn't come out on top overall (and keep the shiny new trophy), the QC team played very well.  QCPC actually won four of the eight divisions, so Saddlebrooke knew they had a battle on their hands!   See the results here for each division. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1eDfAKsMzsikYsExD_hhyf1zZFieeJf8k/view?usp=sharing

We are especially proud of the many QCPC members who were playing in their first competitive event.  Ask anyone who's done it, and they'll tell you it can be a bit tougher than regular play.  Experience helps for sure.   Everyone had a lot of fun, regardless of the outcome.  That's the way it should be.

So, thank you all (Event Director, players, scorekeepers, court captains, runners, windscreen crew, "music man," Social Committee volunteers, and the many spectators who came out to cheer on our team) for making this a great event.

Next year we'll go to Saddlebrooke Ranch and get that trophy! (Dave Mungo, President QCPC)

New Self-Led Organized Play

Men’s and Women’s Round Robins - Evening Play

3.0 Men’s RR on Mondays at 6-8 pm on Courts 5 and 6

3.0 Women’s RR on Wednesdays at 6-8 pm on Courts 5 and 6

We are trying something new based on feedback from the pickleball member survey. These two new events will be self-led, meaning there is no volunteer leader or organizer.

Experienced members are already familiar with the RR process and any player can organize for the day. RR sheets can be found in the bins at both Ramadas (always return materials at the end of the event).

Since members requested more evening round robins, both events will be in the evenings. Signups for these 2 new events will be on CR starting the week of April 14th . Play will start the week of April 21st.

Any questions should be directed to Madelyn Witt at scheduledplayqcpc@gmail.com.

Volunteer Appreciation Party

The QCPC held their annual Volunteer Appreciation Party on April 2nd at Al and Michelle Skoglund’s home.  Over 50 volunteers attended the catered event so the Club could thank all of our wonderful volunteers who give so much of their time to the betterment of our Club and players.

Our President, Dave Mungo spoke about our volunteers (over 100) and the hours that they dedicate to player development, court maintenance, social committee, IT, scheduled play, accounting, etc.  These are just some of the jobs required to have a smooth running Club which we can be proud of.

There’s always room for more people who want to give back.  Ask any board member or volunteer how you can help become a part of this great team!

APRIL 2025 “Q-TIPS”

From Gary Quantz, your USA/PPR Certified Instructor

My last full month of teaching for the season is underway. This fourth  year has gone by quickly and already the snowbirds are starting to trickle away. My plan is to keep offering lessons through mid-May so there’s still time to sign up for a class of your choosing. Also, as the weather gets hotter, I’m going to request earlier starting times to avoid the heat. Look for upcoming details.

I offer REGULAR lessons (8 class maximum) for 2.0 (must pass the QCPC Beginners class), 2.5, 3.0, and 3.5 level students – PRIVATE lessons (1 to 4 class maximum) – and the very popular “Klincs with Kathy” for 3.5 level students (3.0 level students with approval). Choose what works best for you or contact me at (206) 948-4457 for more information and lesson details.

Due to the popularity of Thursday’s “Klinics with Kathy”, I’ve expanded the size of the first session to 12 students maximum, 3 courts. Also, you can sign up for ALL remaining clinics at once (Thursday, April 17 and April 24) and don’t have to wait weekly to register unlike my REGULAR classes.

Once again, I’m impressed by the overall progress of many of our club members this season. The dedication to attending either my lessons, checking out the pickleball machine, and/or getting involved with outside league play or other instruction/clinics offered by others has been impressive. The Club’s dedication in offering a wide variety of programs to help improve your pickleball knowledge and skills is second to none.

If you are one of many that are leaving for the season, please have a safe journey and hope to see you back on the courts in October of 2025.

Bunch of Reminders

Club Open Play

Club Open Play is for all QCPC Full Members and their house guests, Associate Members, and prospective Quail Creek purchasers in an authorized Robson marketing program. House guests of QCPC members and authorized overnight guests of Robson Quail Creek may also play in Open Play without obtaining an Associate Membership.

Club Open Play is available Monday-Saturday year-round. Morning Open Play is scheduled during Prime Time hours (which change as temperatures change during the year). Evening Open Play is scheduled during evening Prime Time hours. Check the Court Reservations link on the Club website for current morning and evening Open Play days, hours, and courts.

If reserved Club Open Play courts aren’t all being used and if other courts are full, then Quail Creek residents and guests may use the open Club Open Play courts. If additional QCPC members arrive at the Open Play courts and are waiting to play, then the Quail Creek residents and guests using the formerly vacant court(s) should release the court for use in Open Play as soon as possible.

In Case of Emergency

Add the Pickleball Court Ramada addresses to your phone contact list:  1461 E Quail Crossing Blvd.

If you have to call 911 then you have it for the emergency dispatcher. Also, consider carrying an emergency information card for yourself. You can find one under the Resources tab.

First Aid Kit and AED

In the women's restroom at both Ramadas.

Click here to watch a demonstration video for the AED:  https://youtu.be/PaxwHxEuiN8

Lost and Found Items

If you find a lost item at the courts you can:

  • Place it in the Lost and Found tub at the Ramada.

  • Take it to the Lost and Found at the ANZA club. This would be especially helpful if it is an expensive item because the Lost and Found there is manned by employees.

  • Contact the owner if there is contact information on the item.

You can also post on the QCPC Facebook page if you lost or found an item. The pickleball club does not have the ability to email for lost or found items. Please be careful with your belongings while at the courts.

Videos are provided for informational purposes only.
